SURRENDERED COLLECTION
Exploring a new medium and method of painting has been so fun, but also didn’t come without its challenges. If you’ve ever painted with watercolors, you know that the paint often has a mind of its own, bleeding and blending in unexpected ways. Each brushstroke carries a sense of immediacy and surrender, and a willingness to embrace imperfection.
This collection unexpectedly mirrored what it means to live surrendered to God. How you ask? Well, watercolor requires trust. When I lay down the pigment, I don’t always know exactly how it will dry, spread, or settle. I may plan the composition sometimes, yes, but there’s also a letting go — a surrender to the process. In the same way, life with God requires trust. I don’t know what the my future holds, but He does. God invites us to release our need for control and to trust Him in all ways (even when things don’t unfold the way we expect), knowing His hand is always guiding the outcome. We might have a vision, a hope, a direction, but true surrender means doing what God wants us to (with the power that he supplies). God shapes our path and blends the pieces of our life in ways we couldn’t have orchestrated on our own.
In both art and life, surrender is the beginning of something deeper, a connection that goes far beyond what we could do alone. Trust in the Lord with all your heart and he will make sure paths straight (Proverbs 3:5-6).
