THE LORD IS MY SHEPHERD COLLECTION

I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul and guides me along the right paths. When David thought about his relationship with God, he made the analogy of a shepherd and his sheep. He was like a sheep to God, and God was like a shepherd to David. The idea of God’s role as a shepherd is that of loving care, and David found comfort in the thought that God cared for him as a shepherd cares for his sheep. Unable to survive long without a shepherd, sheep are completely dependent on the shepherd’s care – for rest, food, water, safety and guidance. And we, like David, need God to protect, guide and care for us. Otherwise, like sheep, we will wander off the right path and lose our way, being at risk of many dangers with no defense. But, as we listen to His voice and follow the Lord, we can be assured that we will not lack anything. May we have the same joyful trust in the God, and surely goodness and love will follow us all the days of our life.
